Job Purpose:
Employees in this role will receive supervision and training from experienced GIS Staff. Under moderate supervision at an intermediate performance level, GIS Technicians conduct geographic information system (GIS) program activities, utilizing GIS hardware and software to produce maps, spatial databases, and thematic data (wetlands, address verification, road centerlines, historic sites, etc.) Employees in this position will create, adjust, correct, manage, convert, and distribute base maps and thematic data. Employees will also write programs and develop user interfaces, menus, and macro-level commands to meet user needs in addition to performing simple spatial analyses and producing reports accordingly.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
• General knowledge of application of GIS data and solutions within government. The GIS Technician will assist the GTG Consulting team with the development of geographic information systems and solutions within a myriad of potential industry and government service and program applications including but not limited to: Public Safety, Planning, Engineering, Transportation, Public Works, Water Resources, Parks and Recreation, Property Management, Information Technology, Environmental Conservation, and Public Health.
• Familiarity working with GIS Data within government. Experience in working with parcel maps, orthophotos, historic data, transportation data or health data, etc. The GIS Technician will assist a GIS Project Manager with consulting project tasks including but not limited to: GIS data organization and management, GIS data creation, editing, and updating within spatial databases; producing documentation on procedures and workflows, validating GIS data for accuracy and completeness, populating, and maintaining metadata and producing maps and other GIS products using best practices.
• Esri ArcGIS Desktop and/or Pro familiarity is required.
• Provide training, troubleshooting and database management for clients.
• Evaluate tabular and spatial data to determine data quality.
• Perform data migration and conversion tasks.
• Perform GPS field data collection as needed.
• Occasional travel, as needed, may be required.
• Perform GIS spatial analysis and data manipulation.
• Work with client agencies to provide data to external users.
• Perform GIS support for projects under the direction of a Project Manager.
• Develop GIS products and maps, digitize paper maps and spatial data.
• Prepare metadata for maps, data sets, and geodatabases, manipulate, analyze and interpret data from many sources and in many formats.
• Complete projects on time, within budget and at or beyond client expectation.
Required Education:
• Associates or bachelor’s degree in GIS or related field.
Physical Requirements:
1. Must be able to perform the basic life operational functions of functions of stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
2. Must possess the visual acuity to prepare and work with data and figures, operate a computer terminal, do extensive reading, and use measurement devices.

This is a remote position.
Compensation: $45,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
